Energy Tool: Heart Power

Your energy body/field contains an incredible amount of information about your physical body, emotions, mental state, and more. It is also very good at picking up info from other energy bodies around it: people, plants, things – animal, vegetable, mineral – you name it.

If you are unaware of your energy body and in a volatile, stressful, or just plain icky atmosphere… well of course you will take on negative vibes and have it affect your mood, health, and energy.

The good news – it’s very easy to turn the tables around and, instead, generate positive energy for yourself. An awesome side effect: YOU will be the one now affecting those around you with your positive field and this positive vibration is exponentially more powerful than any negative one.

I taught this energy tool (one that I learned and adapted from the wonderful Heartmath organization) at my last workshop with great success.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Focus on the heart area of your body in the centre of your chest
  2. Keep your breath even and un-laboured, counting if you need to
  3. Imagine you are breathing in and out through the heart
  4. Picture something that makes you feel love and appreciation (a pet, child, cherished memory, ideally something with just positive emotions around it)

Feel this love and appreciation spread through your entire body, radiating out from the heart – all the while still focusing on the heart and breathing through it. Congratulations – with these simple 4 steps you have learned a powerful way to work with your own energy.

If you find your attention drifting, that’s ok! Gently focus back to the heart and the feelings of love and appreciation. This feels good but it can take a few tries to master – be patient and kind with yourself.

Even five minutes of using this energy tool every day can dramatically change your life and the way you handle challenging situations.

So simple, yet one of the most effective energy tools I have ever come across. The heart is a powerful energy centre, maybe the most powerful. It may sound a bit mushy to think of love, especially when it’s the furthest thing from your mind to but believe me, this is the best way to bring your physical and energetic bodies into a calm, coherent, optimal state.

And since you can keep your eyes open while doing it – you can do it anywhere. The more you do it, the better you feel, the stronger your energy gets, the more you effect the world around you in a positive, wonderful way.

Do it when you’re:

  • Waiting in a long lineup
  • Waiting in line and the person in front of you insists on paying in small change
  • Stuck in traffic
  • In a challenging (or boring) meeting
  • Working against a deadline
  • Delayed at the airport… AGAIN
  • Feeling blue, feeling sad, feeling mad
